A pre-conference contribution to Solidarity AI by IT for Change

How do we build AI that serves women and marginalized communities instead of extracting from them? IT for Change is hosting this one-day workshop as part of Solidarity AI. It brings together practitioners from South and Southeast Asia who are building feminist AI prototypes. Their tools tackle online gender-based violence, preserve the languages of tribal communities, and open economic opportunities for young women. Participants will examine the dilemmas and trade-offs of building AI rooted in solidarity and cooperation. Together, we will ask how technical design choices and policy can work together to make alternative AI futures real.
