Bio
Sanjana Malhotra is a researcher working at the intersection of technology, public institutions, work, and welfare delivery. Her research examines how digital systems reshape government practice, particularly in India, including the use of algorithms, geotagging, and data systems within public bureaucracies.
She has more than a decade of experience working in and alongside government agencies across public health, sanitation, and social policy. Previously, she worked with the Accountability Initiative at the Centre for Policy Research, J-PAL, Khushi Baby, and the Government of Rajasthan. Her research has included public health administration and the use of algorithmic decision-support systems in government. She holds both a BA and an MA from Columbia University. (she/her)
