Bio
Cindy Anh Nguyen is an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), with appointments in Information Studies, the Digital Humanities Program, and Asian Languages and Cultures. Her research examines the historical practices of knowledge production, preservation, and communication in Southeast Asia, with particular attention to libraries, encyclopedias, and print media.
She is the author of Bibliotactics: Libraries and the Colonial Public in Vietnam and has published on digital humanities, global Vietnam studies, history, pedagogy, and community-engaged cultural heritage work in Cambodia and Vietnam. She is also the founder of the Culture Futures Rest Lab, which explores cultural and computational questions of interpretation through Global South co-design and multivocal knowledge-making. Her work extends into public scholarship and community-based artistic practice. (she/her)
