In a historic first, this Platform Cooperativism Consortium conference is being held in Latin America. The Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, will give a brief welcome to the conference and extend a warm welcome to all attendees. Rio de Janeiro is famous for its dazzling carnival, samba music, and pristine beaches. However, Rio is also home to a number of large cooperatives that contribute to the city’s economic stability. Abdul Nasser of SESCOOP will introduce the Mayor.
