Bio

Sain López has been engaged in cooperative entrepreneurship and innovation since 2008 when she was a co-founder of Mondragon Team Academy (MTA), the special Entrepreneurship Unit in Mondragon University (MU), that currently leads a community of more than 1300 young entrepreneurs worldwide. She is certified as a Tiimiakatemia Team Coach from the University of Applied Sciences in Jyväskylä, Finland. For the past ten years, she has been assisting young entrepreneurs at Mondragon University in the formation of new cooperatives. With her ICDE fellowship, she hopes to refocus her research on the establishment of platform cooperatives in the Basque Country, a region known worldwide for its networks of traditional cooperatives. Concretely, she asks how municipalities can best help emerging platform co-ops to scale. López is also interested in how traditional large cooperatives within the Mondragon network can convert to platform co-ops.
