Freelancers Union brings its 360,000 members together to pool resources, access affordable and portable benefits, and build a strong political voice.
I plan to discuss how Freelancers Union can benefit from the experiences of cooperative platforms, and investigate opportunities for independent workers to organize and create mutualistic models that harness their collective economic power.
Caitlin Pearce is Director of Advocacy and Member Engagement at Freelancers Union, overseeing policy advocacy, education, and community growth for the union. She recently led the national Freelance Isn’t Free campaign, which resulted in first-of-its kind legislation to protect New York City freelancers from nonpayment.
