Bio
Sasha Costanza-Chock is a communications scholar, author, and activist whose work explores design justice, social movements, and technology. They are Head of Research at One Project and a faculty affiliate at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society. Previously, they held associate professorships at MIT and Northeastern University and served as Research Director of the Algorithmic Justice League. Sasha co-founded Research Action Design and the Design Justice Network. Their books include Out of the Shadows, into the Streets! (2014) and Design Justice: Community-Led Practices to Build the Worlds We Need (2020). Their research examines how communities can shape media and design practices to challenge structural inequality, advance collective liberation, and support ecological survival through participatory approaches rooted in social movements.
