Renan Kalil
My name is Renan Calil, and I am a Labor Prosecutor currently serving as the Vice-Coordinator of Conafred, a division of the Public Ministry of Labor that addresses fraud in labor relations. This coordination is actively involved with digital platform labor, conducting investigations to determine if workers on these platforms should be recognized as employees and compelling companies to acknowledge their labor rights. Additionally, the MPT has been addressing jurimetrics, a practice some companies adopt to manipulate the formation of jurisprudence favorable to workers. Beyond these themes of recognizing employment ties and jurimetrics, the Public Ministry of Labor understands and has been engaged in the debate on platform cooperativism as an alternative for organizing these workers. In cases where there is genuinely autonomous work, and individuals in this market want to organize themselves in this manner, it can offer a way forward beyond the large companies that dominate sectors such as passenger transport and goods delivery. Therefore, the event that began on the 4th and ends next Sunday, organized by ITS and PCC, is crucial. It aims to bring together many people interested in this topic so that new ideas can circulate and we can seize this new opportunity that Brazil will begin to experience from January next year, exploring possibilities and fostering this alternative for workers interested in organizing in this way.
