I am currently the director of the School of Management and Technology. My exposure to the digital industry came during my previous tenure with the government and various agencies. The relevance of cooperative principles in today’s digital or knowledge economy is underscored by the diversity of technological inputs, evolving employee-employer relationships, and emerging business models. Adhering to the principles of collective good is essential to ensure fairness for everyone involved in this industry, guiding us toward a sustainable, fair, and equitable society.

One of our initiatives is the development of a skill collective, where competitors in talent acquisition come together to enhance workforce skills for greater efficiency and productivity. A notable example from Kerala is MuLearn—a collective formed by IT companies, colleges, students, and tech evangelists. Drawing lessons from Kerala’s successful collectives like Akshaya, Indian Coffee House, and Kudumbashree, we are enhancing MuLearn into a more extensive and impactful platform. This initiative not only boosts student skills but also fosters what we call ‘cooperative competition’ among companies, ultimately benefiting all stakeholders.
