Bio

Wayne Wei Wang is an Assistant Professor of Law and Technology at Tongji University and a Visiting Fellow at the University of Hong Kong. Trained in both engineering and law, his research focuses on AI governance, data protection, intellectual property, computational law, and innovation policy, with particular attention to the Global South. He is a Non-Resident Fellow at the FGV Center for Technology and Society in Brazil and an ACCP Fellow at the African Center for Cyberlaw and Cybercrime Prevention. Wang contributes to international AI governance initiatives, including the UN Internet Governance Forum’s Dynamic Coalition on Data and AI Governance, and has co-drafted model AI legislation in China. His interdisciplinary work advances democratic, sustainable, and inclusive approaches to governing emerging technologies.
