Bio
Varakorn Wimuttichai is the Chief of Research and Academic Affairs at the Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University. She works at the intersection of research, policy, and international collaboration, focusing on interdisciplinary research development, academic partnerships, and research management. Her work supports regional research networks and strategic collaborations that connect academia, policymakers, and civil society across Asia.
She holds a Master’s degree in Sociology, with research interests in Death Studies, particularly the sociology of Death, Dying and Disposal (DDD) and Deathivity, exploring the social and cultural dimensions of death, contemporary death practices, and the materiality of DDD.
She is a member of the convening team for the Solidarity AI Conference 2026.
