Bio

Sybille Légitime is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science at Brown University, where she is affiliated with the Data in Society Collective (DISCO) Lab and the Center for Technological Responsibility, Reimagination and Redesign (CNTR). Her research investigates the social and ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on participatory AI, algorithmic fairness, and equitable technology design. Combining approaches from computer science, human-computer interaction, and critical social inquiry, she studies how AI systems can be developed to better serve the communities they affect. Her work emphasizes inclusive research methods, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the responsible governance of emerging technologies. Through her research, Légitime contributes to building AI systems that are transparent, accountable, socially responsive, and aligned with the public interest.
