Bio
Simi K. Salim holds a PhD in Humanities from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. In 2025, she co-founded humAIn: The Humanities Lab, where she works at the intersection of artificial intelligence, the humanities, and the social sciences, examining what is actually ethical about “ethical AI.”
Her research interests include digital humanities, feminist algorithms, visual and material cultures, and feminist geography. Her recent essay, “Thinking with Machines: AI Ethics and the Future of Humanities,” appeared in The News Minute. Her scholarship has been published in New Review of Hypermedia and Multimedia, Postmedieval, and the Journal of Religion and Gender. She has also contributed to publications from Simon & Schuster India and the American Academy of Religion. (she/her)
