Shigeru Tanaka is a former global coordinator of RIPESS, the Intercontinental Network for the Promotion of Social Solidarity Economy. He has been active in the social and solidarity economy movement since 2009, helping organize the Asian Solidarity Economy Forum in Tokyo. Shigeru is also a member of the Pacific Asia Resource Center (PARC), a Tokyo-based people’s think tank that connects social movements working toward shared goals. PARC is a leading organizer of the Make Amazon Pay campaign in Japan. He has researched the financial relationships linking Japanese banks with global platform companies, bringing attention to the institutions that enable and profit from the platform economy. His broader work builds diverse connections among labor, economic justice, and solidarity movements across Asia.
