Sebastián Piracés-Ugarte is a Brazilian-Mexican musician, historian, and cultural researcher whose work bridges artistic practice and critical inquiry. Best known as the co-founder of the Latin Grammy-nominated band Francisco, el Hombre, he has helped shape a distinctive sound that blends punk, folk, and diverse Latin American musical traditions. Born in Mexico and raised across Latin America, his work reflects the region’s cultural diversity and transnational histories. Alongside his musical career, he pursues historical and cultural research, exploring questions of identity, memory, and social transformation. Through his solo project, Sebastianismos, he combines original music with historical reflection and interdisciplinary experimentation, creating performances that connect scholarship, storytelling, and contemporary Latin American cultural expression.
