Bio

Samantha is a South African and Ugandan researcher, policy practitioner and advocate for digital rights with over 10 years of experience in the field. As the Advocacy Director for Ranking Digital Rights, she works with civil society, governments, and academia at the intersection of policy and research to uphold human rights. She has previously worked as the Ranking Digital Rights Research Lead and a Senior Digital Inclusion Researcher at the World Benchmarking Alliance. Previously, she was an AI Openness and Equity Fellow at Aspiration’s Policy Leadership Initiative. As a Green Web Foundation Fellow her work used an intersectional approach to understanding the impacts of data centers on people in South Africa.
