Bio

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pavika Sriratanaban is Director of the Institute of Asian Studies at Chulalongkorn University and an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Faculty of Political Science.

Her research focuses on the sociology of death, dying, and disposal (DDD), modern death studies, the medicalization of death, end-of-life care, and qualitative and ethnographic research methods. Her work examines how social change, technological developments, and cultural transformations reshape experiences and understandings of death in contemporary society.

As Director of the Institute of Asian Studies, she leads interdisciplinary research and international collaborations that strengthen partnerships across Asia and advances the Institute’s mission of translating knowledge into societal impact. She also leads the local organizing team for the Solidarity AI Conference 2026 at Chulalongkorn University, fostering collaboration between the Platform Cooperativism Consortium, Chulalongkorn University, and regional partners.ka Sriratanaban
