Osamu Nakano currently serves as the Chair of CICOPA Asia and Pacific, a regional organization focused on industrial and service cooperatives, and is also the Vice President of CICOPA, an international organization advocating for industrial and service cooperatives globally. Osamu plays a vital role in shaping cooperative strategies and initiatives. Within Japan, he holds the position of Director of International Relations and board member at the Japan Workers’ Co-operative Union (JWCU), a national federation of worker cooperatives. Osamu’s dedication to developing platform cooperative movement is demonstrated through his organization of influential symposia, including the pioneering event titled “What is platform cooperativism?” where Trebor Scholz introduced the concept in Japan in 2019. Osamu Nakano continues to drive the advancement of worker cooperatives, foster collaboration among stakeholders, and shape the future of the cooperative movement in Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.
