Bio

Munus Shih is a Taiwanese Minnan–Hakka creative technologist, designer, educator, and co-founder of CoAssembly, Taiwan’s first design cooperative. An Assistant Professor in the Graduate Communications Design program at Pratt Institute, Munus works at the intersection of creative coding, cooperative organizing, and critical technology studies. Their practice explores anti-colonial, queer, and collective approaches to digital tools, data storytelling, and open-source publishing. A Processing Foundation Fellow, Munus has developed projects and workshops that make creative technologies more accessible while advancing solidarity economy principles through design. Their work bridges research, teaching, and cooperative practice, demonstrating how technology can support community ownership, democratic participation, and more equitable digital futures.
