Luciana Bruno is a Brazilian journalist. For the last 15 years, she worked for international news agencies such as Reuters and AFP, covering especially Economics. She now works for the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC Rio), covering Peace, Human Rights and Sustainable Development. She finished her Master’s degree in Information Science. Her dissertation was about the work in start-up companies — autonomy versus precarious work.

She has been a research fellow of the Institute for the Cooperative Digital Economy at The New School. Luciana’s research focuses on the case of Brazilian platform Cataki, an app that matches individuals who have recyclable waste in their homes with waste pickers, or “catadores” in Portuguese, operating in their neighborhoods.
