Bio

Julian Tait is Chief Executive Officer of Open Data Manchester, where he advances the responsible and intelligent use of data to strengthen communities, create new forms of economic activity, and give people a meaningful stake in decision-making. For more than a decade, he has developed initiatives demonstrating the public value of open and accessible data. While at FutureEverything, he co-developed Manchester’s Open Data Cities program, which helped establish new relationships among public institutions, technologists, and local communities. His work has since extended across local, national, and international projects involving data governance, civic participation, digital infrastructure, and data cooperatives. Julian is a co-author of the Open Data Handbook, The Open Book, and other publications exploring open data and its social possibilities.
