James Farrar is Founder and Director of Worker Info Exchange (WIE), a UK-based nonprofit that advances transparency, accountability, and workers’ rights in the platform economy. A former Uber driver, he became a leading figure in the landmark legal challenges that secured employment rights for gig workers in the United Kingdom and helped reshape global debates on algorithmic management. His work focuses on data rights, AI governance, algorithmic transparency, and collective bargaining in digitally mediated work. Before founding WIE, Farrar held senior leadership roles in corporate sustainability at SAP and worked with Global Witness and Amnesty International. He is a frequent speaker and commentator on the future of work, platform regulation, and democratic approaches to artificial intelligence and digital labor.
