Inés López is a Catalyst of Change at COBI (https://cobi.org.mx/), where she works to promote marine conservation and sustainable fishing through effective coastal community engagement. Inés has contributed to the implementation of the community leadership program, sustainable fisheries, management and community monitoring of marine protected areas and fish refuges (no-take zones), supported the development of community-led collective action networks, and led a countrywide effort to document the effects and solutions of COVID-19 in fisheries communities as a result of the pandemic. She has also promoted COBI’s cross-cutting work on gender equality in fisheries, contributing to positioning this issue at the national level and participating in international forums. To contribute to bridge the digital divide and continue empowering fishing communities, she supports the ever-evolving development of PescaData (https://pescadata.org/) with the Fisher’s Collective Action Network, ensuring that the principles of digital cooperativism are observed.
