Bio

Hatice Kurşuncu graduated from Yıldız Technical University in City and Regional Planning (2002) and earned her master’s in Urban and Environmental Sciences from Ankara University (2006). She received her PhD in Political Science and Public Administration at Istanbul University (2016), focusing on urbanization and industrial transformation in Istanbul. Her research interests include urban sociology, history, economy, and gender politics. She worked as an urban planner at Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality (2005–2007) and has been with the Istanbul Planning Agency since 2020, serving as Gender Policies Expert, Deputy Coordinator of the Vision 2050 Plan, and currently as Themes Coordinator of the Istanbul Plan 2050. She has also been active in urban and ecology movements, volunteering with the Kadıköy Cooperative (2017–2025).
