Bio
Harini Suresh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Brown University, where she leads research on responsible machine learning, human-AI collaboration, and decision-making in high-stakes domains. Her work examines how AI systems can be designed to support people while addressing issues of fairness, robustness, interpretability, and accountability. Drawing on methods from machine learning, human-computer interaction, and the social sciences, she studies how AI is deployed in contexts such as healthcare and public services, with a focus on improving real-world outcomes rather than benchmark performance alone. Suresh received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has become a leading voice on responsible AI and sociotechnical machine learning systems.
