Professor Esther N. Gicheru is the Director of the Institute of Co-operative Development at The Co-operative University of Kenya. Her academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Organizational Development and Transformation from Cebu Doctors’ University, a Master’s in Co-operative Management from Leicester University, and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Nairobi. With over 40 years of experience in the cooperative sector, she started her career at the Ministry of Co-operative Development and Marketing, serving in various roles for 12 years. Gicheru then moved to the Co-operative College of Kenya, where she was Principal for 24 years until its elevation to a university college in 2011. She has also contributed to the international cooperative movement as a member of the Global Board of the International Co-operative Alliance in different capacities.
