Dorleta Urrutia-Onate is a researcher and innovator from Bilbao, Spain, specializing in cooperative digital economies and ethical AI governance. Trained at Mondragon University as an engineer, she is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Deusto, researching how Explainable AI can enhance transparency in worker co-op governance.

As part of the 2025/2026 Fellowship at the Institute for the Cooperative Digital Economy (ICDE), Dorleta analyzes Dorleta researches platform cooperatives and alternative impact financing, focusing on how securitization (pooling assets into tradable securities), impact bonds (investment tied to social outcomes), and clean fintech certification can support the sustainable growth of platform cooperatives while preserving their democratic governance structures.

Her work integrates cooperative financial models, impact-based ratings, and SDG-aligned investment frameworks to develop ethical, scalable financing mechanisms for the digital cooperative economy. Her academic background includes advanced degrees in marketing and sustainable design from Mondragon University, Politecnico di Milano, and Politecnico di Torino. Founder of Astindu Koop, Dorleta champions digital solutions that support the solidarity economy, teaches and researches, and advocates for inclusive, ethically sound data governance.
