Bio

Dr. Cheryll Soriano is Professor of Communication at De La Salle University. Her research examines the local embedding of platforms along with how platformization shapes the conditions for work and workers’ organizing practices, integrating scholarly inquiry with engaged research. She was Principal Investigator of Fairwork in the Philippines and currently leads the Philippine leg of Digital Transactions in Asia, focusing on the transactional economies around platform work, and Resilient Platform Work, which examines the intersections of platform work and climate change. 

Cheryll is co-editor of Platforms & Society and the book series Power Currents: Asian Media in the World (University of Pittsburgh Press). Her books are Philippine Digital Cultures: Brokerage Dynamics on YouTube (Amsterdam University Press) and Asian Perspectives on Digital Culture: Emerging Phenomena, Enduring Concepts (Routledge)
