Bio

Dr. Canan Urhan is an organizational studies scholar whose research explores therapy cultures, knowledge workers and digital platforms including platform cooperatives, the societal uses of AI in areas such as agriculture, education, and the ideological currents of Silicon Valley. She has held visiting fellowships at Goldsmiths, University of London’s Political Economy Research Centre (2019–20), UCL Institute of Advanced Studies (2023–24), and UC Berkeley Sociology (2024–25). Urhan is currently the Principal Investigator of MEDACORNET, a PRIMA–TÜBİTAK funded project at Istanbul Technical University. The project focuses on valorizing acorns as a sustainable food source while supporting the financial well-being of collector communities across the Mediterranean.
