Bio
Dr. Bronwyn Cumbo is a Research Fellow in the Department of Human Centred Computing, specializing in the fields of Human Computer Interaction, Science and Technology Studies, and Participatory Design at Monash University. With a focus on social and environmental sustainability, Dr. Cumbo explores the use of creative, critical, and participatory design methods to support marginalized groups, including women and children. As part of the Digital Equity Group, she is currently engaged in two research projects. The first investigates the impact of ICT on assisting domestic workers in Bangladesh through the participatory action research intervention PROTIC project. The second project involves collaboration with education researchers to uncover children’s water and climate change literacy using creative and sensory methods. Dr. Cumbo holds a Ph.D. in Sustainable Futures from the University of Technology Sydney and has served as a visiting research scholar at Aarhus University and City University of New York. Her research interests encompass participatory design and research methods, ICT co-design and innovation, sustainability, climate change and water literacy, civic engagement of children and youth, data literacy, and platform cooperativism.
