Yosuke Uchiyama is a labor sociologist and Research Fellow at the Transportation Institute at Chulalongkorn University. His research focuses on platform capitalism, gig work, digital governance, and informal and shared mobility across East and Southeast Asia. He developed the concept of platform parasitism to explain how digital platforms depend on existing institutions, infrastructure, and labor systems while simultaneously reshaping them for capital accumulation.

His work examines the social and political dynamics of platform-mediated labor, particularly in ride-hailing and mobility services, while also exploring cooperative and democratic alternatives to platform capitalism through concepts such as social common capital and cosmolocalism. His research contributes to ongoing debates on platform governance, labor rights, and the future of digital economies.
