Bio

Wayne Wei Wang is an Assistant Professor of Law and Technology at Tongji University, a Visiting Fellow at the HKU Law and Technology Centre, and a fellow affiliated with FGV’s Center for Technology and Society and Nelson Mandela University’s African Center for Cyberlaw and Cybercrime Prevention. Trained in engineering and law, he holds a Ph.D. from the University of Hong Kong and researches intellectual property, data protection, AI governance, and science and technology studies, with particular attention to the Digital Majority World. His work has appeared in leading journals and edited volumes from Oxford, Cambridge, Routledge, and Springer. He co-drafted China’s Model Artificial Intelligence Law, contributes to the UN Internet Governance Forum’s Dynamic Coalition on Data and AI Governance, and has received international awards and fellowships across  six continents.
