Bio
Waranya Buranakarn is a political communication researcher whose work explores the cultural, emotional, and technological dimensions of activism in East and Southeast Asia. She is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Journalism and Communication at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she studies how moral emotions, digital media, and emerging technologies shape collective action and democratic participation. She holds a B.A. in Communication Arts from Chulalongkorn University and an M.A. in Journalism and Communication from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Her research focuses on youth movements, digital activism, AI, and political communication, with particular attention to the Thai student movement and broader questions of civic engagement under conditions of democratic backsliding.
