Bio

Nishant Shah is Professor of Global Media & Culture at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he directs the Digital Narratives Studio and the MA in Global Communication. A feminist, humanist, and technologist, his work examines how digital technologies shape social, political, and cultural life, with particular attention to the Global South. His research brings together feminist and queer theory, critical technology studies, media histories, AI ethics, and digital governance. Shah is a Faculty Associate at Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society and co-founded the Centre for Internet and Society in India. His recent work explores authorship, authority, misinformation, generative AI, and collective futures, asking how technology can support more inclusive, equitable, and caring societies globally.
