Bio
Dr. Alek Tarkowski is a sociologist of technology, digital policy strategist, and activist with over 20 years of experience. He is co-founder and Director of Strategy at Open Future, a European think tank for the digital commons, and a leading European voice on Public AI, digital commons, and open-source AI policy. He serves on the Board of Wikimedia Europe and is a co-founder of COMMUNIA, the association for the digital public domain, and Centrum Cyfrowe, a Polish digital think tank. Previously, he served as strategic advisor to the Prime Minister of Poland and as a member of the Board of Directors at Creative Commons. He holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the Polish Academy of Sciences.
