Shashi Tharoor is a distinguished Indian figure renowned for his numerous roles in the international arena and Indian politics. Currently serving as the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Chemicals and Fertilizers, he has been a Member of Parliament for Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, since 2009.

Tharoor’s journey began with an education that took him from London, UK, to India. He graduated from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, in 1975 and achieved a doctoral degree in International Relations and Affairs from Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in 1978, setting a record as the youngest recipient at the time.

His remarkable career at the United Nations spanned nearly three decades, culminating in his role as Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information in 2001. In 2009, Tharoor entered Indian politics, representing the Indian National Congress and serving as Minister of State for External Affairs during the Congress-led UPA government. A prolific author, he has received the Sahitya Akademi Award and has been known for his eloquence and as a former top Indian on Twitter. Despite facing challenges in party leadership elections, Tharoor remains an influential member of the Indian National Congress.
