Bio

Salonie Muralidhara Hiriyur, a dedicated advocate, works as a Senior Coordinator at SEWA Cooperative Federation in India. She champions the rights of 2.1 million informal women workers. Salonie is also a Fellow at the Institute for the Cooperative Digital Economy (ICDE) at The New School, focusing on digital inclusion for women farmers through cooperatives.

Her past includes research at the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Geneva and a degree in gender and development from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Currently pursuing a PhD in Development Studies, Salonie’s research explores the impact of the digital economy and gig work on informal women workers in India, mentored by Deepta Chopra and Becky Faith. She remains committed to empowering women in the informal sector.
