Bio

Ken Lewis was born and raised in Grenada, in a working-class family. He pursued dual degrees in Political Economics and Transportation Studies in Cuba before moving to the United States to earn a Master’s in Transportation Planning from CCNY, followed by a Master’s in Management from NYU. While driving a cab to finance his academic pursuits, Lewis became acutely aware of the struggles facing taxi drivers in New York City. After joining the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, he worked on key programs, including Access-A-Ride and EZPass, and helped expand transportation options for passengers with disabilities. In April 2020, Ken Lewis co-founded the Driver’s Cooperative with Erik Forman and Alissa Orlando, aiming to empower drivers by creating their own technology platform to improve working conditions and promote driver ownership in the ride-hailing industry.
