Irungu Kang’ata is the Governor of Murang’a County, Kenya, having assumed office in August 2022. Prior to this, he served as the Senator of Murang’a County from 2017 to 2022 and held the position of Majority Chief Whip in the Senate. He also represented Kiharu Constituency in the National Assembly from 2013 to 2017. Kang’ata is a lawyer by profession, holding a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Nairobi. Known for his active political career, he has championed public interest causes and was awarded the prestigious Chief of the Burning Spear honor for his legislative and philanthropic contributions.
