Bio

Robert O’Malley is a policy advisor on AI in education and a civil servant at the United Kingdom’s Department for Education. His work focuses on ensuring the safe and effective use of AI systems in schools, with a particular emphasis on participatory policymaking that engages children, parents, and teachers in shaping governance. He collaborates across international networks to align policy and practice on AI in education and is contributing to the design and delivery of the 2026 Department for Education Summit on Generative AI in Education. From 2022 to 2025, he served as Private Secretary to successive Ministers of Education, supporting policy development on emerging technologies in schools.
