Clara Punzi is a Ph.D. student in Artificial Intelligence for Society at Scuola Normale Superiore in Italy. Her research focuses on building responsible human–AI hybrid systems, advancing algorithmic transparency through open-source practices, explainability, abstention mechanisms, and participatory approaches. Taking an interdisciplinary lens, she identifies gaps in normative frameworks and business practices that enable harmful AI applications and proposes guidelines for responsible AI development by design. Her work also examines the socio-economic impacts of digitalization, particularly how algorithms deepen vulnerabilities and exploitation in platform labor, intersecting with gender and other identities. Beyond academia, Clara is active in solidarity economics, especially fair trade and community-based initiatives.
