Antonio A. Casilli is Full Professor of Sociology at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and co-director of the DiPLab (Digital Platform Labor) research program. He also co-founded the International Network on Digital Labor (INDL). His work examines the hidden human labor underpinning AI systems, social media, and data ecosystems, spanning fieldwork across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe. His latest book, “Waiting for Robots: The Hired Hands of Automation” (University of Chicago Press, 2025), has been widely acclaimed and was selected as one of Nature’s Science Picks. Casilli is a member of the CNRS Interdisciplinary Institute on Innovation (i3) and a former by-fellow of the Churchill College, Cambridge.
