Bio

Ana Margarida Esteves is a Research Fellow at the Center for International Studies and Guest Assistant Professor in Political Economy at ISCTE–University Institute of Lisbon. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Brown University. Her research explores the intersections of the social and solidarity economy, commons, and sustainability transitions, with a focus on participatory democracy and critical pedagogy. She is a founding editor of Interface: A Journal for and About Social Movements and a contributor to Open Movements on openDemocracy. Esteves is an active member of RC47 of the International Sociological Association and the SEADS collective, which connects ecological design with social transformation. Her work bridges academic and grassroots efforts to support cooperative and commons-based alternatives.
