Bio
Akkanut Wantanasombut is Head of the Research Group in Innovation for Social Solidarity and Inclusive Economy in Asia (ISSIE) at the Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University. His research and practice focus on the platform economy, platform cooperativism, AI, digital public infrastructure, and the Social and Solidarity Economy, examining how democratic governance and collective ownership can shape digital technologies for the public good. He was a 2023/2024 ICDE Fellow at The New School. He leads Platform Cooperativism Consortium Thailand and also founded Tamsang-Tamsong, one of Thailand’s pioneering platform cooperatives for motorcycle taxi and food delivery workers. His work spans research, policy, and institutional innovation, collaborating with cooperatives, governments, international organizations, and civil society to develop democratic approaches to the digital economy.
