Co-Designing a Rubric for Cooperative AI Development: Learning from RooLLM

  • Nov 13, 2025 2:00–3:30PM

  • Hobby (R2)

Join Andi Argast and Vincent Charlebois for an interactive workshop to co-design a practical rubric for developing and implementing cooperative AI. Using Hypha Worker Co-operative’s tool, RooLLM, as a central case study, this session explores how a small organization is building a values-aligned AI assistant. The discussion will dive into the infrastructure choices and privacy considerations involved in deploying a locally hosted, open-source language model. Builders, developers, and cooperative practitioners working on their own tools are especially encouraged to participate.

In the second half, the group will identify key considerations for cooperative AI projects, focusing on data sovereignty, privacy-preserving technologies, and ethical alignment with cooperative principles. The session concludes with a mini design jam to create a tangible rubric that co-ops can use to evaluate AI tools and systems according to their specific needs and values. Participants will leave with both a conceptual framework and concrete strategies for integrating AI while maintaining autonomy and cooperative integrity.
