Jessamine Pacis is a Program Officer at the Foundation for Media Alternatives, a non-government organization in the Philippines seeking to democratize information and communication systems for citizens and communities. She works primarily in the areas of Privacy and Surveillance, and has previously worked in projects related to internet governance and open data. Currently she is involved in a research project that explores the platformization of care work in the Philippines. This study particularly looks at how care work or domestic work platforms are transforming traditional models of labor and power relations in the Philippine context, and examines whether such emerging models improve inclusion or merely reinforce existing inequalities.
