Ludmila Costhek Abílio is a senior researcher at the Centre of Labor Studies – University of Campinas (CESIT/UNICAMP). In the last twenty years she has been investigating informal work and its relation to capitalist accumulation in the Global South. She has worked with social policies related to cooperativism and solidarity economy, which became the focus of her master research. In her PhD, she investigated the work of cosmetic resellers – more than 1 million women – for one single company in Brazil. In the last ten years, she has been following the transformations in the work of delivery couriers. This trajectory has led her to become one of the main Brazilian references regarding the uberisation of work. Currently, her principal research project is entitled Uberisation: Work and health conditions of the just-in-time worker.
